Left: This area was located directly behind our barracks in Qui Nhon. The field was the communal bathroom. I heard the little outhouses were put there by the Army Engineers. I do not think they were ever used. The locals just defecated in the field. When the defecation dried it was harvested for fuel. The company shared a compound with the 41st Signal Battalion in Qui Nhon. Only a couple of months after arrival the D Company moved to Phu Tai valley which was about 10 miles to the west of Qui Nhon. Two days after arriving in Qui Nhon I was sent back to Long Binh to cable splicing school. |

We lived in the metal building to the left while in splicing school. Those objects stacked to the right are sandbags. Just in case you are wondering they were not filled with sand in the factory. Lucky for us most of the sand bags at Long Binh were filled by local national labor. After finishing the 3 week splicing school I went back to Qui Nhon for one-day and ended up being sent to An Khe. |
